The Great Disaster Of Thanksgiving 2005
It's been an exhausting and frustrating holiday for us.
We went over to my parent's yesterday for the usual turkey obligations, and we were supposed to leave today for the weekend up at J's mom's and more turkey obligations.
Note how I say "supposed?" This will come into play.
Well, we drove around last night looking for an open restaurant to eat dinner at. Upon finding Denny's (evilevilevil) we ate a pretty tasty dinner and headed home to get ready to leave today.
Fate steps in.
Just as we got home, J had to run for the bathroom. And if you haven't guessed where I'm going with this, I'll tell you.
J got food poisoning!
ickickickickickick!
So, we're up all night with him being sick from both ends. I finally get to bed around 5 am and sleep until 9 am, at which time I check on him and see if he feels like going.
He doesn't.
I make the calls and cancel out and the first thing his mom tells me is..."We'll sure miss those enchiladas." (My food contribution.) How funny is that?
So, here we are at home. He's getting better, slowly but surely. Thankfully, he's getting better.
This year I am thankful for:
Him getting sick before we got on the road, and his getting better quickly.
J recovering and his buddy Half Rat...both napping earlier tonight.

Gymmies
That's right...gymmies.
If you are creative, like me (not!), you have probably at this point realized that J and I have finally joined a gym.
"Sorry, I have to go to the gym now."
That sounds so cool!
Why did we join the gym? Well, I work out here at home, and have lost 35 pounds, but J...not so much. He needs a little, um, motivation. $50 a month is good motivation. (I hope)
So tomorrow we start our gym routine. For me, nothing new. Lots of cardio, a little strength training. For J, all new. A little cardio, lots of strength training.
Wish him luck. *wink*
And in other news, I forgot to update earlier this week. But that's not the news. The news is that we got Rat Rat's meds ordered, and hopefully they will be in tomorrow. Then we will go get her stabbed. At least she doesn't have to have surgery. whew!
And that's about it. J is giving a guitar lesson right now, and I guess I better figure out what we're going to do for dinner. After all, it's only 8:30!
Have a good Monday everyone!

No Word Yet...
Well, the vet hasn't called yet. I'll call him on Weds if he hasn't called by then. As you know, he's supposed to be researching a particular medicine for Rat Rat (Sorry, I can't member what it's called), and he is supposed to let me know by Tues if it's a viable option for our girl.
As for Rat Rat, she's actually doing great. Her lump hasn't grown any in over a week. I'm actually pretty surprised by that. Yay for Rat Rat! :)
The poor ratties are so irritated. They're used to free-ranging every day, but they haven't been able to in over a week because we're sealing our hardwood floors. I don't want them walking on something that hasn't dried, and making a mess. J is having a horrid allergic reation to it...Rashy hands, feet, chest, mouth, etc. He's very, very bad. And miserable. Did I mention miserable? Yep, he's miserable.
I really don't want the ratties to be exposed for that reason either. Allergic rats...doesn't seem like it would be a lot fun, does it?
I guess it's gonna be quiet around here for awhile. Ratty's here in the US *waves* for a few weeks. So if anyone wants to pop up and comment, I sure wouldn't say "no". lol
I'm gonna try to write more often, so stay tuned. Come Back! Often. :)
We're off to have pizza. Yum!

Jammin' Out
That's right...the hubby and some of our neighbors are out on the landing having and impromptu jam session on their guitars.
Pink Floyd is the music of choice tonight..."Wish you were here." It sounds really good, but then, I'm biased. I think my hubby is awesome on the guitar, and he is by far the best player out there.
He's giving lessons on how to play the rest of the song. Makes me proud. :)
I, on the other hand, am busy at work trying to keep the rats from eating my plants while they free-range. Mostly, actually all, of it is Rat Rat.
I'm off to keep a closer eye on them.

Rattie Pics
Since we'll be away for 24 hours, I've decided to leave you with some cute rattie pics. These should tide you over for a while, right? Lol
I especially love the ones of Rat Rat cleaning J. She's sooo particular, so she's always cleaning him. :)
Enjoy the pics, stay safe and happy, and we'll see you and the rats Sunday.
She can't stand a dirty daddy
